Amber is fossilized tree resin which contains remnants of life from millions of years ago.
Amber may range in appearance from white, yellow, orange, and reddish brown.
Transparent amber is considered more valuable than cloudy amber. Unique inclusions such as insects or plants may increase the value of amber.
Caring for Amber
The only safe way to clean amber is using warm soapy water, with a mild soap.
Amber is considered a soft gem, at 2-2.5 Mohs, and may scratch if not cared for.
Amber burns at low temperatures, and may be damaged if exposed to chemicals.
